What Is A Fiscal Sponsor?

The term “fiscal sponsor” refers to an arrangement with an established nonprofit agency (in our case, a California community college district) to perform various financial duties on behalf of another party. As fiscal sponsor, the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) Fiscal Sponsor Team serves as the legal agent for the organization that receives the funds, overseeing and tracking how the project funds are spent. Under agency law, the client organization has the right and legal duty to direct and control the agent’s activities, including how and when the funds are spent the right and legal duty to direct and control the fiscal sponsor’s activities.

Our Track Record Speaks for Itself

Trusted Fiscal Partner

Our clients return to us because of our accurate recordkeeping, honesty and dependability. Our team can take the burden of fiscal monitoring off our partner organizations’ plates, allowing them to focus on their mission, rather than being bogged down by their fiscal responsibilities.

An example of this is our partnership with the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to fund Micro Business COVID Relief Grants to micro-businesses and nonprofits throughout the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Amador and El Dorado. The graphic to the right shows the amount of funds  we managed for the program per county, with $2,500 going to each grantee.
